rear end rotation ?
have a question about rear end rotation , my rear is bolted to the swing arm with a 4 bolt plate which also holds the lower shock mount .
my problem is that the rear gear head points directly toward the engine , with the shifter braket on the front of it , and is flat with the frame , as I really don't want to lift the cart , does anyone know if it would be feasiable to remove the weldes on bracket and rotate the rear end so that more clearence can be gotten between the gear head and the engine . I am already useing the longest belt available and it's far to tight the only way it's mounted now . It's a dana rear end in a hyundai frame . there are no leaf springs just coil over shocks on the back , if I have to lift it to get clearence , do you just extend the shock mount ? Please forgive my ignorance as I got my very first cart in Dec 07 and this is my first attempt to do any engine swap . |

Goat...
If you could post some pics to show what you are in question about it might help some of these experts to give you a better suggestion as to what you might need to do. |

Re: rear end rotation ?
I bought a honda clone 13 and it was hitting the shift arm on the front of the rear end , the 18 briggs opposed twin was hitting the blower housing on the left swingarm .but clearinnng the shifter fine , faced with neither engine working like I wanted them to without lifting , I have decided to move the left swingarm and put the 18 in , the 13 would have fit fine with a 4" lift , and i'm already useing the 1988 ezgo belt , longest 1-3/16 available and I reallt didn't want to lift.
measured it out and the rear tire (20") is about 1¼ to maby 1½ inches foward of true center of wheel well and that is all I wanted to move it just to center it up . There seems to be a lot to move around with these non-std old carts no one has worked on them enough to know where the snags are . btw with the 18 I won't need to rotate the rear end . |
