NetMXer, there is a cleaner that can be had at Autozone called Super Clean. It's purple and in a purple bottle--hard to miss it. Wet it and rinse off anyloose dirt, then spray the Super Clean pretty liberally all over the compartment. Walk away for about 5-10 minutes and come back to rinse it off. You can use a brush for really stubborn areas.

I then mist EagleOne Etching Mag Cleaner all over the engine compartment, especially the exposed frame rails. Let that do its thing for about 10 minutes and let everything dry.

Get a can of Tire Foam and lightly spray everything. Try to avoid the belts if possible.
