Default Painting Canopy

What type of plastic is the canopy on my CC DS made of. The man at SEM asked me so he could recommend the right type of paint to use. I see some using LineX was looking for something I can do my self.

If at all possible I would not paint it. Seems as though they are very difficult to have paint stay on them.

It was just a thought. From what I have read you are right. The cart that I am working on is white going to put white / black seat covers on it. May have to settle for the tan top

I used SEM trim black and their adhesion promoter. Quality products. Been excellent against scratches and even baked on bird$#it removed with a hot water pressure washer.

Ha,dundeebarnbuddy you used that on your top. Did you use a gun or rattle can. I thought using a adhesion promoter that would help to bond better. It worked good on the body I painted. But from what I have read the top is a different type of plastic.

Yours could be different. I have the older top. I prepped mine with the usual wash, then sandblasted it [I ran a 3/8" nozzle at 45 psi from about 2 feet away with 40 grit], that really gave the plastic some "tooth". Washed it with acetone and shot it. It took 4 of the big spray cans to do it. Were I to do it again, I would have asked the autoparts to get me a quart as the materials to do it this way ate up a 100 dollar bill.

Top could be different it is a 2005. I think I will see how it looks after putting it back together. Then see if I want to tackle the job. Probably do what Mooncarter suggested an leaf it tan for now.

I picked this cart up with 4 new tires, 2018 batteries an new charger at a good price. So I may see if I can find a white to for it.

I have painted several tops with no issues of the paint sticking. The adhesion promoter is key!
