Default Batteries

Just wondering why 6-6v batteries are used in a 36v cart instead of 3 -12v batteries?

As mentioned it run time but the deeper story is the Amp Hour capacity.

Trojan T 105’s are the 6 volt battery most commonly used and they are rated at 185 AH, so 36 volts x 185 AH = 6660 watt-hours capacity.

Trojan T1275 battery is a 12 volt @ 120 AH, so 36 volts x 120 = 4320 watt hours or 35% less capacity than using T105’s.

But that is not the end of the story though. I have not looked and determined if there is space but it might be possible to put 6 of the T1275 batteries in the same space. If you can you then have 2-36 volt strings wired in parallel for a total AH capacity of 240 AH, so 36 x 240 = 8640 watt-hours about 23 % more than 6 T105’s.

So what it comes down to is how much crap can you cram in the battery compartment, lead.

You are welcome to look - But there isn't the space with the given Factory battery box for 6 T-1275's...

Plus I'll bet you haven't 'priced' them yet?
