any idea how long it might last making that tapping noise

How do you know the crank journal is worn? If it is, it could last a long time. It will just be a nuisance to listen to.

got a new undersize bearing on order just not sure it will take care of all the slap noise

this thing was road hard when i bought it balancer journals are long gone egg shaped we thought it was clutch noise read some forums and see a lot of guys remove the cranshaft balancer as i did and then found this problem

Have you checked piston and bore dimensions?

piston skirts are fine honed the cylinder put new rings in all bearings are fine 155 is compression
