You said it smoked - did you do an oil change? Does the oil have gas in it? Even a little will make it smoke.

Shepard yesterday found a plug fouled and swapped in another one and it doesn’t seem to be smoking like it was yes oil change is next on the list but main thing is getting a muffler on it ordered a manifold today after plug change and carb adjustment it running real smooth the guy I bought it from used it on a farm just putting around so I guess muffler wasn’t a priority lol

What did you adjust on the carb?

Field all I did was adjust the idle mixture it was real Rich and changed plugs
Also I think the carb needs rebuilding

I would clean the carb. I can't remember the specifics but I remember they are pretty straight forward when cleaning.

The manifold I have fits the 14-16 hp Vanguards, 18 should be the same.

Well I found out today when I changed my oil last week it filled the pulse line and the fuel pump full of oil that’s why it would not start after the oil change soooo I guess next time I will disconnect the pulse line and cap it off also changed the plugs and running pretty smooth no and no smoke at all (yeeeaa) next thing I need to adjust valves and also discovered a carburetor leak
Got all the parts to hook up muffler also
