Default Key switch replacement/upgrade

Has anyone ever put a car key switch into a g1? I'm looking for the ability to have a key that's not universal. And thought that swapping in a car switch would be a good idea. I'm just not sure it can be done. Can it?

I use ATV key switches in mine. Dont know how well an automotive key cylinder would work, they're not exactly weatherproof. I'm sure it can work just dont think it would last long.

Newer golf carts you can order a non-universal-keyed switch. Not sure if you can get that for the G1. But regardless you must take into account the number of wires on it that must be connected or disconnected when you turn the key.

Probably not an automotive switch, but check industrial equipment suppliers or even NAPA. Since forward / reverse is through the ignition switch you need something "on/off/on". Or you could wire up an on/off/on toggle and a master switch that is keyed.
