EZGO running very slow
I have a 2007 electric ezgo. Just bought it used. 2009 36 volt trojan bat. ran fine for weeks until this past weekend. I took it out hunting and used it on the grass trails with a few guys riding along for a couple of hours. It performed very well. I parked it for a while to recharge. After about 3 hours I took it back out by myself and it wont go faster than a fast walking speed. This is even on a full charge.
Does anyone have any suggestions with this issue? thanks for the help. Bentley |

Re: EZGO running very slow
Does the cart have a toggle on the dash or a lever by your knee for a directional selector?

Re: EZGO running very slow
put the cart into diagnostic mode and report to us the code you get:
PDS Diagnostic Mode = PDS Diagnostic mode can be entered with the cart stopped & the key 'off' though 5 consecutive neutral > reverse selections. Then pause = about 2 seconds after the 5th selection of neutral the reverse buzzer will emit a series of beeps... like 3 & 2. Report what your cart reports here. To exit diagnostic mode turn the maintenance switch from run to tow and back again |

Re: EZGO running very slow
ok that's the mode your cart is in, now drive it a bit and see if it gives a different set of beeps.

Re: EZGO running very slow
That's "All Terrain" mode...It should be going at least 10~13 mph at full throttle....

Re: EZGO running very slow
At this point I think I have more questions than answers.
You say you rode grass trails with a few guys for a few hours . . . constant (or nearly) driving? All participants on your car? With the larger tires /wheels on an electric and that kind of load on the batteries would discharge them rather quickly. You *parked* it to recharge? Did you plug in the charger? For only 3 hours? How did you determine it was *fully charged*? Do you know the previous owner? If the water levels in the batteries were ever low for a period of time and he kept recharging the dry or partially dry batteries . . . it is possible they will never *go the distance* again. Have you checked the water level since you've had it? Scotty described, very well, how to get in to the diagnostic mode . . . the single beep indicated you did it correctly and indeed were in that mode. And Bolter is also right that you can force the code by (without exiting the diagnostic mode or changing anything) turn the key on and drive it until it shoots the code. Is that how you did it? If, indeed, the batteries are good . . . you should get a code for a welded solenoid or bad speed control sensor. I know that these questions may seem pretty basic, but trust me in that I go this with many customers all the time. I hope this helps you out Quote:

Re: EZGO running very slow
Mark, thanks for your feedback... Yes I was riding for a couple hours with a few stops here and there. We were showing the property to prospective members for the hunt club. I do recall towards the end of that session...it was starting to move slower so I figured it needed to be charged. I determined there was a full charge be the light on the charger. (did not blink). The previous owner actually is a cart mechanic and custom builds these for clients. He is a firefighter and hard to track down at times to get him to look at it so I wanted to try to get help on the forum. As far as the battery water level, I did check that as well and the levels look good.
I drove it in diagnostic mode and it did give me a series of beeps this time. two quick ones then a quick pause then 4 quick beeps. I looked at the diagram next to 2-4??? It said my selinoid is disconnected or failed. Am I looking at the right one?? IF so how do I find it to check it out? Thanks again everyone for your help with this.... |
