Default G9 Ignition Coil Replacement

I purchased a new ignition coil but it did not come with a spark plug cap attached. Can I re-use the old one? If so, how do I remove and re-install on the new coil wire?

Its best to get a new cap but they usually don't come on the O.E.Ms so Using the old one is sometimes your only option...simply pull the rubber seal down from cap and unscrew it off, put seal on new cap them screw on till it gets hand tight...it does not need to be super tight just enough to hold with a little pressure applied...If you choose to get new get NGK at any auto parts store

Note that the cap is resistive. It should read about 5k ohms through the cap with a meter. If it does not then it should be replaced. I’ve personally seen more caps fail than the coils themselves, resulting in a similar no spark situation.

Thank you both! I will attempt to use old cap and test for 5 ohms with multimeter. IF less I will get a new NGK cap. Thanks!

That’s 5K (5000) ohms. Not 5 ohms. And it doesn’t have to be exact. Anywhere from 4K-5.5K is fine. I don’t recall off the top of my head what the exact spec is but it’s in the repair manual.
