Fuse Block Suggestions/Help
I have a 2012 gas drive with the standard factory-installed light kit...only mentioning that in case the wiring harness could make things easier for me...
I'm looking to add a simple 2-port phone charger for now. At some point I may add additional LED lights on the front/back...haven't really decided there yet. Also, while I may not "need" a fuse block for a simple phone charger, I want to try and set myself up for success later if I decide I want to throw on more accessories. Regardless, I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. I'm sure it's 2nd nature to some/most; but I'm really stumped when it comes to electricity. Should I be adding a fuse block? It seems like the natural thing to do...but I have no idea how to put that on a switch and connect that to my battery. Is it appropriate for me to think of the fuse block as a "power strip" of sorts? Basically, connect that to my battery one time and then any time I want to add accessories in the future, I can just snap in a fuse and tap off of it to power a new accessory? Are there any considerations I need to make when selecting a fuse block...or are there really not many options here? I'm just looking for a little advice/nudge in the right direction so I can start scouring for videos on how to wire something like this up lol...any help at all is appreciated. |

Re: Fuse Block Suggestions/Help
Dont wire it directly to the key switch (key switch wires arent big enough for too much extra), wire it near the battery. And yes, "fuse block" is your "plug strip". LEDs & a usb charger might be small enough to go through keyswitch wires, but I think you want your options to be open in the future (where more & more little things may add up to too much for the stock wires for the keyswitch). The number one thing is "FUSES FOR EVERY THING". Do not ever add anything without a appropriate sized fuse. I got a "perfectly good" messed up cart for $200 because some fool added lights with no fuse. It melted down a bunch of stuff when it failed (even melted a hole in the gas tank ). Lucky for me, yamaha is my game, perfect deal.
