Default 1990 Marathon 420 Swap reverse?

I have purchased a predator 420 and plan on installing it in my 1990 EzGo Marathon to replace the antiquated Robin 3pg 2 stroke. I am pretty fabrication minded and understand the basic install and alignment. However I don't understand how the reverse is going to work. Can anyone help me understand that part? Thank you!

Well that sucks. I could have bought a completely brand new Robin for that 🤣

Yeah the 2 stroke carts don't have a reverse gear in the transaxle. The engines actually run backwards to get reverse. It's quite a project to switch from a 2 stroke transaxle to a 4 stroke transaxle, not a bolt in deal. The clutches are lined up differently. The engine plate is different. The swingarm is different. Whole different animal really.

Well I'm going to continue with the swap and since I've been a metal fabricator for 28 years I bet I can find a newer rear end and weld er up right nice in the future.

Yeah why not, you already have the cart so....

On another note, I have seen where a few guys here used a starter motor to turn the driven clutch backward to make an electric reverse. I can't remember how they did it, but I think they just used a push button start button thingy so it was easy to get to go backwards. I wouldn't think there would be too much issue with that, except you might have to stop the engine first?
