Re: ignition problem
If you are SURE it's the coil, I have a used one you can have for $30.00. It came out of a '99 workhorse that I upgraded to an MCI motor. The new motor came with a new coil, so this is not needed.
Be sure it's the coil. Wait for some more feedback to assure that's the prob. I don't want to sell you the wrong component. Be patient, the pros will be soon to help! tonyton |

Re: ignition problem
You may have to search "EZGO Gas tech" section of the forum. There are manuals in there that should have the test procedure for the coil. I also have the ignitor, if thats it. I need $70.00 for that. New ignitors are at/ over $200.!
I'll help you look. |

Re: ignition problem
I'm sorry, I might have got ahead of you. Theres stuff in the trouble shooting section, BUT I CAN"T FIND IT EITHER! The ignitor is the "Black box" located in under the cover, next to the solenoid. dont worry about that, yet.
Take out 1 sparkplug. put wire back on the plug. (in ineutral) place on the head to ground. push accelerator and observe spark, and describe what happens. please. Check connections from coil/ plug wires/plug caps physically remove any/all connections at the coil and clean them. (use emery cloth, small wire brush.......) replace to original locations. See if it'll spark/start, if not we'll start checking coils. Who KNOWS HOW TO CHECK THE COIL?? wheres the info at?? Help! Last edited by tonyton; 05-13-2009 at 05:04 PM.. Reason: add a step |

Re: ignition problem
absolutly nothing happens when I take one spark plug out and touch it to the head I took all connections off tto the coil cleaned them and in the procces I discoved a small chip out of the coil but I don't think that could do anything by not giving it no spark?
could I take a coil out of something else that is twin cylinder and try that in it? |

Re: ignition problem
We'll have to ask someone else for sure. you probably could for a short test and not cause any problem. thats a guess, sorry

Re: ignition problem
I found the tests. If you have an ohmeter, you're in bussiness. Go to ez go gas tech on the home page. There's a thread for manuals. It's the first one, Technicians repair and service manual. I don't know how to open it here, so ya gotta look it up yourself now. It's pretty simple. tony
