I called this company and was told they had never heard of a sliding signal of accelerator. Guess i'll try somepace else.

Wow... and it's still not running? I would recommend to troubleshoot with a Curtis service handset. You'll be able to read stored fault codes and get realtime monitoring of all components. There are some offers for rent (~ 30$/month). A good shop should be able to do the same.
