Default Yamaha g22 no go. Please help!

Yamaha 2004 g22. I have 50.8v at the pack. Voltage at the solenoid. Tow/run switch working. Forward reverse switch working. Key switch working. No reverse buzzer no power in either direction. What are my diagnosis steps at this point. What else do I check and how do I check it?

I just went through the same problem over the past week and a half. Checked/bypassed all switches. Replaced the solenoid. Bought a brand new set of batteries. Volt tested everything that I knew of. I asked the same thing in numerous groups/forums. Sadly, there wasn't much response; neither here, nor anywhere else (I joined a few pretty large facebook groups as well). I thought maybe there might be a way to test the controller or motor, but everywhere I asked, it was either crickets, or nobody knew.

So, I just rolled the dice and bought a new Alltrax controller. That fixed it.

This probably doesn't help you. But, based on my experience, if you had to make a purchase based on a guess, I'd try the controller.

I think there is a 3 amp fuse on the red wire of the run tow switch and that same wire goes to a relay. How is that fuse?

There should be a little red wire on the battery side of the solenoid. That wire has the fuse. Check the run tow switch and make sure its getting and sending power. Check the red/yellow and red/black small wires at the solenoid. Do you have pack voltage there with the cart it run and the key switch on?

Both of these were checked today. The fuse was pulled and checked out good. Town run switch was pulled and tested as well. I don’t know how to check the controller to make sure it is good but I’m running out of wires to test.

It’s frustrating when you’re trying to learn and you don’t get much traction. I’ve worked on many golf carts and have learned many lessons some the hard way. I’d really like to find someone that can be a mentor to help me run through a proper set of diagnostic procedures wether it be a Yamaha club car or Ezgo.

The best way to learn is to read and understand diagrams. Its mostly looking at a diagram, figuring out what operates what and seeing where the power stops. Then youll find your faulty part. In this case, youve confirmed power thru the run tow switch, confirmed power at the small posts of the solenoid. Next, does the solenoid click, if it does not, you can take the 2 big wires off the solenoid and see if there is continuity across the BIG posts. If there is continuity but no click...your solenoid is welded and needs to be replaced. If you sole oid is clicking and operating, its good then you can check your pins on the controller to see if its getting power from the pedal. If a controller gets power from the pedal but doesn't run, the controller is bad. The process takes time to learn and as soon as you figure something out...everything changes. I attached a wiring diagram for an 04 g22.

For everyone’s reference. It ended up being the controller that was the issue. I installed an aftermarket controller as a replacement. Good as new.
