Default backwards?

Is there a reason why I shouldn't mount the axle/motor backwards (flipped 180degrees) when I build my 3 link rear suspension?

Couldn't I just switch the S1/A1 and S2/A2 wiring?

I'm asking because this will allow me to run the Panhard bar in front of the motor and still give me room for to mount two more batteries in another mount in front of the rear end.

Thanks in advance for the responses.....

Wink Re: backwards?

There is no reason I know of. A friend of mine who built this did the same thing and it's ran fine for over 10 years now.

So do I reverse the wiring in order to make it run the right direction (as I asked above)?

Kinda of DA question but better safe than sorry!

I think I will set the rear back two inches also and trim the fenders to fit (re-arc towards the back) for the 25" tires.

Cool Re: backwards?

Yes you would have swap the cables for it to run forward and reverse but you could do it on the F/R cam also. When you flip the axle the forward would be reverse on the F/R handle.

I'm starting to be "not so sure" here..........

If you look at this gear set:
http://www.buggiesunlimited.com/product.asp?sku=STQ%20CC2%201002K

I would think that "going backwards" all of the time on these gears might put undo strain on the pinion bearing as well as whatever shims are there (or crush collar).
