Default Engine swap belt tension

I'm getting geared up for a clone swap into my 96 CC and am concerned about the proper belt tension, seems to be refered to as alignment sometimes. Is there a proper way to measure belt tension. I'm going to do my own engine mounting and I want to get the belt as correct as possible. I was just planning on mounting the engine so that the new belt is about the same tension as the factory setup as felt by hand? Is that crazy?
