High amp draw on lithium battery pack
Ok so let me start off with my current rebuild progress
1998 ezgo txt / converting to 48v 6" lift and 23" tires, Plum Quick Demon Motor / Speed 30mph and 50% increase on torque, High amp forward reverse switch, High amp solenoid 600 amp Alltrax SR Series controller. So my question is will I get enough amp draw from the lithium battery packs? I was looking at roypow but I noticed they have a average discharge rate of 200amps for 10secs and I'm just worried I will be bottle necking my carts performance. Any help would be very appreciated Last edited by VigilantJAB; 11-02-2020 at 04:49 AM.. Reason: Spelling error |

Re: High amp draw on lithium battery pack
I'm running a 400 amp Alltrax with the raptor AMD motor. Allied lithium 90AH battery pack, and it isn't quite enough. I wish I had looked at the roypow larger AH packs. I have 3 of the 30ah 50v drop ins. I need at least one more. It drops out when I get on it hard. If I take it easy it's fine.

Re: High amp draw on lithium battery pack
Thanks for the update
That was one of my worries and I guess I will just fork out the money and go with the roypow S51160 with 160ah |

Re: High amp draw on lithium battery pack
I'm new to the forum and have been reading around trying to learn about these golf carts before I buy one.
I have a lot of experience with batteries however as my home runs off grid tied solar with a large Lithium Ion battery backup. 200A from a 48volt (nominal) lithium battery bank shouldn't be a problem if you build your own pack. The battery that powers my home is a Lithium Ion 14 series unit with 8 cells in parallel, and it can easily push 400 amps if I needed it to. In fact, that's part of what I plan to do once I get my own golf cart.. swap out the lead acid batteries with some lithium cells. I'm kind of surprised I'm not finding more people building their own battery packs in this forum. That Roypow pack is only 5.3kw for $2250 ?? My off-grid battery cost me almost exactly that much, except its 25 kw, not 5.3. Seems excessively expensive. |

Quote:
RoyPow has a "P" version that doesn't seem to be available anywhere yet. The S51105P and S51160P both are listed to have a max discharge rate of 315A. check this link https://www.roypowusa.com/?page_id=26237 I will go with with a S51160P when they become available, if I haven't built a leaf pack by then. -Dave |
