I got an email from Nick at EV Battery. He is starting to make his way back to the shop and expects to get the BMS and Charger sections ready first, for the DIY crowd. It will probably be another month to six weeks before assembled packs are ready. Coming back from an extended hospital visit will take him a little time to get back up to full speed. He will need his strength when he gets back to keep up with the requests.

I wish him well and a smooth return.

Mike,
Here is thought for what may work very well for your 72V (84V lithium pack) application. Use five of the double modules which have a higher rating 82AH from the newer 2016 Leaf. Instead of ten of the single 2014-15 modules @ 60-62AH. Attached are two charts and the picture of the double cell. This would be ideal for you if you are not looking to put together a double pack.

These are very difficult (extensive and unique bus bar work or a lot of cables) to parallel (Nick has not done it, we have talked about what it would take and he won't go there).

The first chart is his test cart 2014 RXV on the 82AH 50.4V pack (40 miles). The second chart is the same cart with a 62AH pack, 58.8V pack (25 miles).

So, though he had lower voltage to start with on the newer module pack, he got an extra 15 miles. Acceleration difference was a little lower but still way above LA batts.

The last pic is a double pack of 20 single modules, 84V in a GEM that one of our members put together. FAST

I am not desperate for batteries yet so I will keep maintaining what I have until Nick gets thing going again. If anyone hears anything please let me know.

Nick is able to spend a little time now in the shop and he is concentrating on B BMS first. He'll be back fully in about a month.
