Default '77 Muffler

I have a '77 HD cart. I want to replace the muffler. I've attached a picture of the muffler on my cart and one available online. Mine is different than the one shown in the HD parts catalog and the ones available online. Mine is 24" long and 7 3/4" in diameter. Can someone tell me, is the muffler on mine original? If so, are these available?
Appreciate any info. Thank you.

Your muffler should be the one in the 2nd picture. As good or bad is whatever the case is, as it the only new HD muffler available. A good next step would be a pic of what connects the cylinder head and the muffler. I suspect someone got creative and we really need to see what was done. I see Vintagegolfcarts has a good used exhaust pipe part# MU11-283-U and a new head to exhaust pipe gasket MU11-300. These parts would allow you to use the correct muffler.

I will look into the connection with the exhaust pipe and manifold once it warms up. Is the muffler currently on mine an original style that would have been on it in 1977.

Normally it would have had the the new one pictured Unless it was some sort of one off. It does look factory but I never have seen one like that before.

That is not a stock muffler on your cart you can tell by the mounting brackets the ones on your cart heavier gauge sheet metal welded to gather to make a bracket were on the stock muffler it’s just 1/8 band iron bent and welded to the muffler. It looks very professional so if I had to guess that someone in oh I don’t know the 1990’s 2000’s probably did some work to it and got a after market muffler for it and that’s why you have that weird mounting setup. The new muffler that you put a picture of in your post will fit that muffler is identical to my 77 HD cart if you need any pictures of anything for reference just PM me best of luck to you

Do you think my exhaust pipe is an original?

Can't see it with that pic. That is why I suggested a look what is in between the cylinder head and the muffler. There is flange that sandwiches the exhaust gasket between it and the cylinder head. The other point is whether or not the exhaust pipe has been shortened or modified in some way to accommodate the nonstock muffler.

Thanks for the info. Just picked this up and it's really loud. Once it warms up I want to take the exhaust off and see if there's a gasket on the pipe. The muffler I have doesn't look that bad so I'm wondering if the sound is coming from the exhaust manifold. Any other suggestions to making it more quiet would be appreciated.

Finally warmed up enough, so I removed the exhaust pipe and found that about half the gasket was gone. Installed a new gasket and now have a much quieter Cart.
