Default EZ-GO TXT Series - 36v to 48v conversion by an old member

Hello all,

Funny story...in 2015 (yes that long ago), I ordered a bunch of conversion parts to convert my 2005 TXT 36v to a 48v cart. I put everything in place with the intention of upgrading once my then ~18month old Trojan T-105 battery pack finally died. Well, finally just came. I literally got over 6+ years of good life out of that pack. Now, I'd like to resume that plan and revitalize the old gal. (A Polaris Ranger XP took her place for the heavy lifting back in 2016.).

I'm going to need some refreshing though. The kit came from ScottyB Pkg#485 with the Alltrax SPM48500 controller, HD solenoid, EZ575 F&R Switch, 2ga cables and a SOC meter. I will be picking up a 48v pack this Friday. As I recall (maybe a bit blurry), everything is 48v ready with the exception of reprogramming the controller.

So, can anyone help an old friend out? Where do I start? Thanks in advance...

shrp

shrp....I did this EXACT upgrade....and its in my cart as we speak. obviously you know you will need to get a 48v charger. ALSO, you will need to change the diode and resistor. You can get those from Scotty at cartsunlimited.net, they are only $12.50.

I thought I had the settings that needed to be changed in an email from Scotty, but I can't find it. Shoot him an email and he will hook you up.

I will second Nukes entire post... I did mine on my signature, a duplicate of yours with the exception of the HD202 reverser over the FnR set for you.

I will also second a check with Scotty for his "latest" wiring diagrams and tips.

BTW, you WILL be happy with the results !!

Thanks for the responses guys. Do you all have threads you tracked the upgrades in? I'd love to review them.

So, my OCD will kick in here. Rough project plan...

1-Upgrade pack - 48v
2-New 48v charger
3-Replace D plug receptacle on cart with triangle receptacle (required or optional?)
4-Replace Diode and Resistor (Order from ScottyB)
5-Reprogram Alltrax controller (Get settings from ScottyB)
6-Other?

Can the 48v pack be hooked up before the controller is reprogrammed?
Does anything need to be done with the F&R switch, Solenoid, or motor?

Thanks in advance.

48v pack can be hooked up before reprogramming, but the cart might not run due to "max voltage" slider being too low.

Changing the charge port is completely optional, and a new 48v charger can be had with any plug handle you need to fit your current port, if you ask them when ordering. You just cant let your 36v friends borrow your charger anymore.

I did exactly what you did....same set up (other than the motor on mine) on 36V...then did the swap to 48v years later. all I needed to do was to get the new batteries, 48v charger (got it with the D plug, so one less thing to mess with) put the new diode/resistor on the solenoid. then with everything hooked up. I connected up the laptop and made those couple small changes and its "off to the races"!!
