Powerdrive 3 charger taking forever to charge, backup charger is much faster??

Charging the same year 2000 48v club car ds cart with 2 different powerdrive 3 chargers, one takes 12-16 hours charge/ shut of and the other is normal 6 hours +/-

Any idea what goes bad in the chargers to cause this??

The output amperage or voltage is low, which is why it may take longer to fully charge a pack.

Generally only two things would cause that, a failed rectifier or diode assembly, or a faulty transformer. Most of the time a bad rectifier will make the circuit breaker pop within a few seconds after the charger starts, but may not always.

The PD3 had two different variations, one with a rectifier, and one with a twin diode assembly. Both are easy to inspect with a multimeter that has a diode check function.
Details depend on which one you have.

Thank you, I will check the numbers, they both jump up to full amps when they start to charge the cart

I am very far from an expert with the sparky carts but I actually have a 2003 DS. My Powerdrive always takes 16 hours or so I tend to believe that it's normal for at least one of those model types.
