2001 36 v ezg0
Hello I bought a 2001 ezgo 36 v cart and it has no battery's I was going to put 3 12v in series to see if it would operate. I checked the part # on the controller and it is a Curtis pmc p/n25864g05 which shows to be a 36v and the contactor is a white Rodgers type 586120111 48 volt dc, I am new to this and need some help. The motor shows to be 36v.was there a way to use all of this with 48 volts of power. Lost !!!!

Re: 2001 36 v ezg0
Everything but the controller, controller will fry on 48v. Most 36v motors run great on 48v.

Re: 2001 36 v ezg0
Is your cart "series" or "PDS" type? And you would also need a 48v charger. 42v seems to be the sweet spot for 36v PDS motors

Re: 2001 36 v ezg0
PDS motor doesn't live a long happy life for street or HD use on 48v.

Re: 2001 36 v ezg0
So, is it not the preferred choice for upgrading to larger tires, lift kits, and so forth?
Reason I ask is, I ran across A PDS in really good condition, with exception of batteries. I can hopefully get it for $500-600. But my plan is to put larger tires, (prefer at least 20”) and would like to add normal upgrades as well. |

Re: 2001 36 v ezg0
Series models are generally preferred for offroad setups. But a PDS will do too. Stock controllers suck on both, both would benefit greatly from a controller and increased voltage. One responds with a huge torque increase, and a linear speed increase to match voltage increase (Series), the other unlocks huge speed increases, but less useful offroad-torque increase (sepex -PDS). This is talking about stock motors for both, upgrade motors add a whole different variable and expense. Both could be made into good off-roaders , and they will go down slightly different upgrade paths to get there.

Re: 2001 36 v ezg0
So would I be better off to put everything back to 36 volt. I do want to put larger tires and use it for off road. But I don't want to break the bank. Any and all help is appreciated!
