1988 ezgo muffler WANTED

Need a new muffler for 1988 ezgo 2pg.
Or
can i just change carb and put an 87 muffler and exhaust pipe on?

The muffler shouldn’t connect to the carb – unless it’s in the way?

ugh not sure what you mean. The 88 is a one of a kind...it has bigger carb and different exhaust (only made one year 1988 ). Im wondering if I change the carb and exhaust to year earlier if that would be most cost effective since I cant find 88 muffler anymore.

I found a ‘88 muffler but its $200, other years seem to be about $100. mine has a cobbled-together exhaust , dont know what its from but its loud. dirt bike loud. ive considered running pipe only straight out the back, make a size-up adaptor and run a small tractor muffler sideways under the rear. or just run no exhaust at all. Its not much louder with nothing on.

I wouldn't run it without exhaust! You will damage the engine if you consistently run it without exhaust. It needs pack pressure especially 2 stroke engines you will never get it running right without some sort of pack pressure.

Honestly I think you could run an 87 exhaust and have no issues with the carb performing fine.
