Morel mushroom season
About time to be getting out in the woods looking for some of the best eating options man has
Our season here in northeast Oklahoma will be starting any day now. As you go north of us a little later and for those south of us you need to be in the woods right now. While you're out pick a mess of wild onions and have a meal fit for a king, Morel mushrooms and Wild Onions and Eggs It just don't get any better than this |

Never had them but love mushrooms. How do you prepare them for cooking?

Re: Morel mushroom season
Cut the stem off, slice them longways into two half's shake them in a bag of flour with some salt and pepper to taste. Fry them in whatever your favorite oil is. We use vegetable oil mixed with butter. Wife uses 2/3 oil and 1/3 butter. Sometimes we just sauté them in butter with no flour etc. Both ways are awesome

At least you know what they are and have hunted them before. Some of the best eating I've had in my nearly 70 years. I'll take them over a ribeye steak any day, Lobster is the only thing I'd have second thoughts on |
