Default Spirit 340 Install Woes

Hello all! This is my first post on the forums, and I have a question about the cylinder heads on an Arctic Cat/Suzuki Spirit 340 motor. The exhaust doesn't fit quite right, and I am wondering if you can rotate the cylinder heads 180° so that the exhaust is at the back, and the intake is at the front? If it helps, it is a free air engine, and I already have it installed in the cart (a 1994 EZGO Medalist, with a custom 4 inch rear lift/axle flip, and will soon have Honda TRX450r front control arms and steering knuckles). The engine runs, pulls fuel through the lines, and spins the wheels, but the stock EZGO driven clutch does not seem to expand at speed... Is that because the wheels were not on the ground at the time? And any suggestions for building a roll cage? Any help is greatly appreciated!
