Painted my precedent roof

Well I decided to paint my stock khaki roof to a black one. I sanded with 220 grit, wiped down with acetone, then painted black with Krylon Fusion. Well it looks good for the most part, but for some reason the 220 scratched the plastic instead of working it smooth, so now you can see all those scratches from the 220. Any ideas on how to get those out and then repaint? My only thought is wet-sanding with 800 grit or so.

Yep, Would have to go with a higher grit then repaint.

I recently did mine also, top I did with the truck spray bedliner and under I did Krylon Fusion Satin Black then sprayed lightly wit the bedliner to give texture to the under. I think it came out great.

I did not sand at first though, I pressure washed and cleaned with dawn, then applied 2 coats of dupli-color adhesion promotor before the black.

Yeah, wish I wouldn't have sanded at all. Live and learn

I'm also wondering if some type of primer such as the adhesion promoter will help hide the scratches before re-painting.

If they are too deep and don't want to try and sand then you may want to use the spray truck bedliner. I bought Dupli-color from Auto zone and it was OK, darn nozzle was a ****** and had to constantly shake and spray. I tried another kind, rustoleum, on a speaker box for the underneath of my cart and it seemed to come out a smoother and more rubberier texture than the dupli-color.

Resanded with 320 grit and repainted. Looks much better now. Still some scratch marks but nothing too bad. Very pleased.

I will hopefully get a pic posted by the end of the weekend once I put it back on.

I had that issue also, I painted with a textured paint for truck bedliner as mentioned above. Search my post on it I have pics.

I hit mine with red scotch brite pad and then sprayed with bedliner. Looks great. I think.
