Default G2 Plate Resitor: Discontinued

Hello all,

I have a 1985 Yamaha G2 that needs a resistor plate (Yamaha Part # J14-85378-01-00). However, Yamaha has discontinued the part and I can't find it online anywhere (Many sites list it, only to find out it's unavailable when they try to order it from Yamaha for me). Does anyone know where I might be able to find one? If not, what might my options be?

Thanks!

Call every Yamaha dealer in the country looking for old stock.

If that fails start getting creative, look for resistor board material and cut your own. Lastly look for other make resistor coil assemblies which can be made to fit in your cart.

A few of us came together at the campground to solve my golf cart issue and came up with this little piece of redneck engineering. Figured I'd post the follow up in case anyone stumbled across this thread looking for a resolution.

Using a grinder, masonry drill and a spare piece of granite tile we created our own resistor plate. So far it's working well as an insulator and heat sink.

Here it is installed.

Thanks again!
