Default Loose isomounts on 96 ezgo

I have a 1996 Ezgo TXT that I bought that has a lift kit installed already. Who ever installed the lift kit in the rear flipped the isomounts over and installed the springs on top which sounds common. The problem i have is the isomounts are so loose i have alot of side to side movement. what i have is the isomount on the axle then a plate ontop of that then a two in. spacer and a plate ontop of that then the springs then the shock mount. Can a person remove the isomounts and weld on leaf spring mount on the axle with a spacer on top of that and run u bolts like the lift kits I've installed on many trucks or is there a easier way to do this?

WELCOME EZGO!!!
Can you post a pic of what you have? take a l;ook at the Jakes rear kit I put on the Carryall this weekend. I think it is the same...I did an axle flip like you are talking about...cutting the spring mount block off and remounting it on top...Only issue I run into is th eintrigal brake cable mount usually needs to be re worked (cut off and extended or?)..

YES - you are headed in the right direction. You can use leaf spring mounts from any trailer supply dealership, or order the Factory rear leaf mounts from us. The isomounts should never be flipped, but that's what you get with a cheap lift kit!

So I'm probable better off building my own lift kit to fix the loose rear end? Is that what you get with a cheap lift kit is spacers and a flipped isomount

Yes. I wouldn't suggest building a front axle from scratch, but you can definately improve the rear setup easily.

isomount is what Ezgo uses on the rear axle to mount the springs to the axle it is a u shaped piece of Aluminum with a round rubber grommet in side of it the mount wraps around the axle with the sping under it
