Default G1 Gas Ratio & Oil Pump

Since I have to change the crank seals anyways, figure while I'm down there, on the clutch side, might as well disable or remove the oil pump and just use mixed fuel. Which ratio is the best to use? Ive seen everything from 1:40 to 1:300 mentioned for the oil to fuel ratio.

Now is the gear that overlaps the crank seal (under the clutch) the oil pump for the injector? (Image below borrowed from the crank seal post:)

If so can the pump also be removed without compromising anything in the motor, or should I only remove the gear and leave everything else in place? (asking because I haven't pulled it apart yet)

Thanks,
Rich C.

I would leave the pump in place, but cap off the port at the carb. The factory oil injection was a "variable ratio" type, with ratio range of 50:1 to 150:1. All "what ratio should I use?" All answers are all based only on opinion, and yamaha gives no answer for this. I would likely go with 80:1 myself. I do think mixing your own is an ok idea, and I'm not personally a fan of automatic oiling myself (having seen so many "auto oilers" fail when I worked on boats).

Factory manual states 150:1 - 300:1

I used 85:1 and 100:1 premixed without any additional wear and no smoke out of the tail pipe.

The important thing is to use a high quality air cooled 2 stroke oil, like Echo brand from Home Depot.

No worries, I wasn't trying to correct you bud. Just chiming in. I just worry that people will over oil the G1 and get oil buildup in the muffler. It also makes less power with more oil and can foul the plugs. I really liked mine at 100:1.
