98 ezgo, FR switch extreme heat buildup
I have this cart that after running awhile on dirt roads up an incline, a really odd smell comes from the FR switch and its very hot. So this is a resistance problem with the FR switch, right? Wires seem ok, but I think the switch is halfway done. Am I on the right track? Would a Heavy Duty switch be a better choice to replace the existing one?

Once it gets hot, it's likely damaged. In the meantime, try tightening the center nut, and don't go anywhere you can't walk home from.

The stock F&R is good for a game of golf. Once you get off the country club the loads and amperage flow increase. You need a beefed up F&R. Everybody sells a HD F&R, but some of those continue to burn up (or melt down). Our heavy duty F&R is customized with 60% more amperage handling and cooling capacity.

Scotty, I have looked at your HD switch online and picture wise it looks just like the pics others use for standard ones. How does one tell you are actually getting a HD?

The bus bars and lugs are larger allowing more current flow.
