Default Re: Ngkra #49 NEW PICS! Suspension

Ok, trying to get this thing ready for Pageland. Got a little done last night.....No sleep......so now its dropped down. I flipped the springs in front and back. Back was simple enough but I don't like the "HardTail" ride. I will probably cut the springs off behind the rear and use coil overs in the stock Shock location. And maybe a panhard bar to keep the rear in place.
Front suspension: I flipped the spring and....clearence problems...Ball joints to close to the frame. So I removed the for bolts that hold shock tower to the frame. I moved the shock tower 1" forward and drilled holes for the front bolts"Bolts were to the inside of the framerails" Now rear bolt are to the inside of the framerails. Balljoints clear with no problem.
So......I pull the steering wheel to move it to center. Have to trim ears off the alumin. coller that holds the column in place. Was 5" plus...now an even 5".
Now I can drop steering wheel into into my lap . Still have to fix steering link,

Seat will set dead center.
Wait..."DEAD?"
Seat will set in the middle of the cart, very low, and safe
Batteries on either side.
If I do more work tomorrow....Pics will follow!

you planning on using acid batteries?

If so you need them in sealed crash proof boxes if they are near the driver.
My wifes uncle was in a car wreck. Battery acid to the face, and he lost his eyes.

Just some thought about your built.

Thanks, I will have to build or buy a battery box. Batteries will set on either side of me. I want to use the Optima's but money may be problem. At $200 a pop it adds up quick!
So right now, I have the Blue US 12v's you can see in the earlier pics. I don't care for them because they are HEAVY!
If my kidney's weren't shot......I'd sell one for a set of Optima's

Thanks EZ.... Built cars and trucks for drag racing all my life. Fastest golfcart I have built so far was only 42mph. This should do better.

6front view.jpgFront view with new wheels....Added 2" spacers front and 1" spacers rear

7front.jpgFront suspension has been alot of work. Still some to do. Cutting rack mount off of shock tower tomorrow and re-welding a couple of inches over so it lines back up with the steering column. Also had to raise shock tower up 1.5" to compensate for flipping the spring to lower the cart.

8Low and mean.jpg This is my favorite pic...Low and Mean
