Custom Dash build
Just a couple quick picks of what ive been up to in the garage..
When I bought the cart it had a fake wood dash panel and It didnt really fit the direction I was going with my cart and I had the material laying around so I figured a custom 1/4 thick aluminum dash would be fun. I havent figured out which hinge Im going to use yet for the glove box. I bought some today at west marine but they were too big so its back to the drawing board. May just use a piano hinge.. More pics to follow Installing a Blue LED meter to match all the blue LEDs on the cart, switches for the Lights and either perforate it and mount speakers behind it or cut holes out and mount a bigger speaker to it,not sure yet.. Not quite sure if I wanna add a car stereo receiver or just use some USB powered speakers hooked to my phone??? |

Re: Custom Dash build
Both equally nice builds. I think it's a great choice, aluminum with the blue and oak with the maroon.

Re: Custom Dash build
Mounted a couple switches and the stainless boat cleat as my glove box handle..(hey I live in a boating community) Still need to cut the glove box out and finish wiring the switches..
All dash holes are tapped and stainless allen headed hardware used.. Barrel keyed ignition should be here over the weekend... Had to hot wire it tonight cause momma wanted to take baby for a spin through the neighborhood.. |

Re: Custom Dash build
Are you going to polish the aluminum or go with brushed aluminum look?

Re: Custom Dash build
Im doing it the same as I did on my bumpers and kick plate which is a sanded swirled finish. I used to make aluminum car parts and polished a TON of stuff but in this salt air it would take far to much upkeep and this way if it gets scratched I just hit it with the flap disk again..

Do you want to sell your old wood grain dash?
