Default How To: RXV DC Voltage Reducer Converter Wiring Install

I have found information on this throughout several post but have not found a post dedicated to it. This is meaerly for information to be easier to search for as it took some digging to find it.

When wiring a DC reducer with a control switch wire you should wire it directly to the solenoid on the bolt opposite of where the battery pack's positive output connects to on the solenoid. This is how the factory DC reducer connects the switch and will work for any aftermarket reducer with a control switch wire.

If the activation switch wire is landed on the controller side of the solenoid as described you reducer will turning on/off with the gas peddle. Is that what you want?

That is incorrect. I have had it wired this way for two weeks and had no issues. Whether it is switching f/n/r or pressing the accelerator the accessories tied into my reducer stay on. RXV is the only cart I have owned. I'm assuming that the solenoid performs a little differently than standard DC carts. This solenoid is active the entire time the key switch is turned on, either f/n/r.

That may work with an RXV if the solenoid activates with the key switch but not other model golf carts. Otherwise it will cut on and off when the pedal is pressed and released as scottyb mentions in post 2.

Correct. That is why is says "How to:
RXV". If you watch the install video of the OEM reducer on ezgo's website this is where they wire the switch. It can be done for non-OEM reducer with a switch wire.

RXV is DIFFERENT ANIMAL
MUST use different care and feeding routine.
Please use care with RXV doing stuff "THE WAY WE ALWAYS DID IT"
can be a very costly mistake.
