33 hp Briggs, yes or no?
Came accross a 33 hp briggs at a good price. Would this be a good choice to repower my 96 EZ-GO? Is there a lot of physical differences between a 33hp and a 23 hp? I already know that the output shaft is 1 1/8 so is getting a clutch going to be a problem?
Looking for advice. Thanks Popper |

Big difference I see is that the 33 is 28 inches tall vs about 18 on the 23hp. May need a sizable lift. Clutches are no problem for that shaft, see site sponsor CPP. You will probably also need to fabricate your own engine cradle as I would doubt that there is anything commercially available for that motor. It would be a hoot though!

Re: 33 hp Briggs, yes or no?
So what I'm gathering from this is that no one has tried this? The sizeable lift comment bothers me a little. I'm not looking to pull stumps with this thing just a race car around the pits. My gas EZGO is getting a little tired and was thinking about going Big Block in it for the extra power and as a conversation piece at the track. So I guess I need to think this through. Just because I can get it for a good price doesn't mean that it will be a good deal.

Scotty put a big Koehler in his cart, I'm sure that is a tall motor. It's gonna depend on the cart, the lift and how low you can get the engine cradle to sit in the frame. It can be done but a 6" lift is gonna be minimum, maybe more.

Re: 33 hp Briggs, yes or no?
Id like to put a 33hp in my 99 CC for its torque output as its a work cart. Now my 90 will be my fast one, one day
