Talking SS custom build. (Electric or Gas/Diesel?)

Alright guys,
I moved into my new place and ready to get back at working on my custom project. Basically scratched all the work I had and starting fresh. The cars underbody is practically gold cart components.

I'm debting if I should go electric motor or gas/diesel motor. I want it to make a statement of looking sharp and fast. I plan on taking it to car shows and just driving around.

If I go gas/diesel i am getting a new rear axle with the forward/reverse cable.

Electric is self explanatory I'll get the motor and everything for it.

What type of motor do you think I should go with? If gas which motor would be best that won't break the bank? I'm thinking a snowmobile or motorcycle motor maybe?

Kind do of the idea I want to go with. Make it look kinda like a drag car. Bigger wheels and tires in the back. Smaller wheels and tires in the front. Give it a little bit of a rake. Maybe put a spoiler on the back (i think itll give it a meaner look) along with a custom made hood scoop in the back.. then make a custom t-top looking rollbar over the driver.

If you are going to putz around at car shows with it, sled or cycle engine don't like to do this for long, they are too high strung. A diesel can do low speed for hours without issue. Also they can be made to haul arse when called upon. That garden tractor/puller has a 3 cylinder kubota with a turbo and is friggin scary when he cracks the throttle. But tame as can be at low speeds.

From experience!
A sled engine is much easer to fab up and make run.
A sled is already a clutch set up where on a bike its chain
Also most sleds are just a 4 bolt mount on the bottom of the engine. Easy to mount! Most bike engines mount from the side and high up on the jug or head.
Also with a sled there is no trans. so no shift linkage to work out!

Just make sure you use a water cooled engine! or cooling is a real issue.
I would use a two stroke engine because of the high RPM's will give you a good hole shot and still have a good top end!

My buddy has one with a 4 stroke rear end for reverse, 12 to 1 and it comes out of the hole like a bullet and has a top end around 35 or 40 mph
Its a blast to drive!

Oh, and that 2 stroke will sound much better driving around car shows then a electric motor! LOL

Is the sled engine going to do alright during the summer weather? I live in Wisconsin so we get super hot weather lol. Any certain motor you recommend?

Your in a better place to get that info, I am in Atl Ga LOL

I think just water cooled. My buddy is in Indiana and uses his year around with out issues.

Only thing I have heard about sled engines in the summer is you have to lean out the carb. because of the less dense air in the summer.

So this weekend I am going to look at a Polaris classic 500 snowmobile for the motor. Its electric start, has the gauges and everything already, and it has dual radiators that I'll run electric fans on. I think my uncle said there 80hp? He's a big powersports fan that's what he recommended lol
