Default 72 volt pack / 36 volt charger

I want to wire up 6, 12 volt batteries in series to my alltrax 400 controller for a 72 volt battery pack. can I wire that pack in 2, 36 volt packs to my 36 volt charger? it early and I didn't get much sleep if this isn't making sense let me know and I'll try to clear it up!

If wired 3 in series and 3 in parallel then, yes. The control and charger will only see 36v.

The short answer is yes. 6 12s in series will give you 72 volts and you can tap 3 batteries at a time to charge with a 36 volt charger. Which Alltrax controller do you have and will it handle 72 volts ?

Nope. That controller is only rated to 48vdc.

I'm not aware of any Sepex controller that can handle 72 volts. If you're wanting to run 72 volts you're probably going to have to convert the vehicle to a series drive system. I built a Club Car Precedent with 6 12's and ran the Alltrax SPM 72-650 controller. It was VERY impressive.

Where did you fit 6 12v's?

4 under the seat and 2 in the bagwell. Built aluminum battery trays and welded them into the frame for support. Then I built a diamond plate cover to hide them.
