Default ISO: 2PG rebuild kit

Hey guys, picked up a 2PG marathon yesterday non-running. Pulled engine and found a blown headgasket and a scored piston. Looking for a quality albeit affordable rebuild kit to get this back on the road as soon as possible.

The jug date code reads 92-01-03, so I thought that was a bit odd given the end of the 2PG in mid 89 and newer models. Muffler sits vertical, S/G is external and up top, and I have the traditional style rear differential solid axle setup. Cart was previously, and recently, converted to HEI.

Anyway, I am planning to get this cart running well and then delete the oil injection pump in favor of mixing my own fuel. I look forward to any insight and can't wait to get working on this cart!

Edit: here's a couple rebuild kits I've found so far.

Your first link is for a 3pg.

This is Vintage golf cart parts. I broke the link because they are not a sponsor.

I’d probably just roll with eBay. Nothing you find is going to be OEM anymore so with OEM off the table, Chinese parts are Chinese parts. I’d be willing to bet they’re all made by the same company and branded under different names.

Should work perfectly fine as long as the big end bearings are good in the rod and it doesn’t have play

I used an ebay 3pg rebuild kit with the jug and all a few years ago. With the exception of some user error installing the piston backwards, everything was of fine quality and worked fine. I wouldn't hesitate to do another one.

I told you to make sure the piston wasn’t backwards. Those sparky guys never listen

Thanks for the feedback guys. Aside from some minor scoring, jug seems good. I may opt to ball hone the original jug to save some coin. Plus, I want practice. Doing so will allow me to just buy a piston/ring/seal kit. And I shouldn't need to overbore either. Still questioning this as I'm not entirely confident that an aftermarket piston would even be within OE spec.

As long as the ring end gap is within spec I’m sure it will be fine. These motors are pretty forgiving tolerance-wise so I’m sure it would work without issue.

Are these 'dowel pins' supposed to be here to orient piston rings? I've never seen this. No assembly info included with the cheap piston and rings kit.
