2pg Oil Injection Delete question
Have an 89 2pg based on pictures I’ve been looking at of 2pg’s vs 3pg’s. Also been reading about the oil injection delete being a very common thing to do to protect these older 2 strokes from breaking due to oil injection falling. My question is what is the mix after removing oil injection? I’ve read 3pg uses a 1oz oil to 1 gallon mix. Just wanting to make sure that the 2pg is the same. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2pg Oil Injection Delete question
A 3pg has the spark plug on top. A 2pg plug is on the side. So far we have had only three 89s on here that were the 2pg. So it is possible. They would have been built around January. Yours would be the 4th. The mix is the same. 128:1 That's one gallon of gas to one ounce of oil. Also keep in mind that these are a low RPM 6:1 low compression engines.
Don't get crazy with too much oil because it won't burn as efficiently as a high winding, high compression dirt bike engine. I also want to say that it's not so much the oil system failing that concerns me. Though they do fail. It's the fuel pump diaphragm that concerns me the most. When the lower diaphragm rips, gas is poured directly into the crankcase. That's why you want to premix. You don't want raw unmixed gas pouring into the crankcase. |

Re: 2pg Oil Injection Delete question
Is your cart a diamond plate steel body? That would make it an industrial cart. They went longer with the 2pg.
Does your header pipe enter the vertical muffler at the top end, or the side of the can? Entering the top of the muffler would give you the 88 setup with the bigger BV24 carburetor. That produces 11hp compared to 9hp. |

Re: 2pg Oil Injection Delete question
Yay oil injection in known to give up the gost and kill your motor happened to a friend it damaged his crank and scored the jug and piston so for peace of mind I would take it off and run premix at 100to1 which is one ounce of oil to one gallon of gas and use TC-W3 oil I use Valvolien oil but any oil that is TC-W3 will work

Re: 2pg Oil Injection Delete question
We were talking about this in another thread. Tc-w3 is made for water cooled engines and different temperature. You need some made for small engines like echo or Stihl. 100:1 is 1.3oz btw..

Or just go to any auto parts store and buy a quart of amsoil 2 stroke oil. It’s good stuff. not expensive and available pretty much anywhere.
