Lights after Lithium battery install
I recently had my old standard batteries replaced with lithium on my club car precedent. Lights were working perfectly prior to the install. I didn't try the lights until a week or two after getting it back but they don't turn on. It could ofcourse be coincidental and being that I didn't check them immediately I can't say for sure, but would there be a reason that with the transition that my lights were disconnected or something from power? I'm novice at this so I'm not even sure how to look and check anything with how the lights are wired.
Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. I'd like to see if I can diagnose this myself other wise I'd wait for the next time it has to go in for some other repair/maintenance to have it looked at. |

Are they factory or aftermarket lights?

Re: Lights after Lithium battery install
You are missing the 12V to supply the lights. It probably came from a couple batteries before you switched to Lithium. Now you need a voltage converter to drop the 48V to 12V for the lights.

Re: Lights after Lithium battery install
Make sure you get a converter that can be turned off. Some use a sense wire you tie into the key switch so it only works when the key is turned on.
Some of the cheap $20 ones work just fine for just lights (10 amp converter) but there’s no way to turn it off. I have one of these I just wired it through a heavy duty toggle switch. It’s been in there a little over 2 years now with no issues, though I only use it to run my lights. And I only use my lights like 2-3 times per year so 99% of the time it’s off. You just want to ensure the converter is not constantly “on”. Even when not using the lights they’ll pull a half an amp or so just to run themselves. This over time will kill the battery pack and if left unattended (say for winter) could cause bigger problems if the BMS malfunctions. |
