Before tearing the engine back apart, few things to try.

Have you checked the reeds to make sure they’re seating?
Simple question, how old is the gas?
Are you 100% sure the float needle is seating and not allowing the carb to flood the engine?
Also, might be worth trying a jet kit for the carb. See if using a slightly smaller jet changes anything.

It sounds like it is running rich so if you do a jet you would want to go down.

Gee Leon, isn't that what CP241 just said above? Do you not read others posts? Or do you just like to repeat what others say?

Don’t be a nincompoop. I suggested maybe trying a smaller jet. He said to go down… not exactly sure where you would go down TO… maybe crawling under the cart? Seems to be a difficult way to access the carb to me but to each their own

fresh gas and fresh oil. still the same.

I have replaced the reeds, I think I will put the old ones back in and see if it is any different.

What year is this buggy? Where did you find new reeds for it? They are not available for a 2pg anymore.

1984 that was reconditioned by EZGO and has plastic cowl on it.

Found them on EBAY, funny thing is the company is about an hour away from me in Iowa.

OMG nice find, that is IF they fit and work but the feedback looks good too....

I know peeps that have scrapped a 2pg because of reed valves, I wonder how long that place has been making them? IF it proves to be a good product I know a ton of others that will sleep better at night knowing they're back on the available list, Wow. Think I'll order up a few to have on hand

UPDATE ON WHAT THE ISSUE WAS

I had the cylinder in the wrong, even after thinking I put it in right.

Runs great now!

Thanks for all the help!
