Need info on S-E 400 by Western
We bought a used Western Golf Cart to ride around the RV park where we live in Arizona. Previous owner didn't know much about it. It runs well and has new batteries (Interstate).
I'm wondering what year it is and which EZ-GO frame it's mounted on. The serial number is 40088XXXX (last digits replaced with "X". I can't figure if it's an 1988 or 1998. I'd like to have some kind of gate across the back so we can store stuff where the clubs were carried. Thanks for any info you can give me on this. |

Welcome to the club,
that is an old western on an ezgo frame. A 1988 looks about right especially with what's under the seat. Based on your photos it's a resistor ezgo set up. Best thing to do is go to the sticky's section in the ezgo electric forum and match up the wiring diagram with what you see under the seat. Most electrical parts are still available. Any gate would have to be fabricated by you for the rear. There is nothing available specifically made for a western of this year. As I said parts for electrical components will be available but be careful with body and lights, etc. those are very hard if not impossible to come by. You would need a parts cart to get that replacement stuff or repair it yourself. |

Thanks for reply. It's in remarkably good shape for age. Looks like a few electrical upgrades, specifically the charging port. A little play in the steering has me concerned. Otherwise runs well.

You may eventually want to ditch the coils and go solid state conversion but see how it works for you as is first. Those old resistor setups aren’t as good with power management.

Hello, I have a similar golf cart. Looks just like yours except my serial number is 400113XXXX. Do you think mine might be a 2001? Thanks!
