anyone heard of snapping input shafts?
I was talking to John at Plowmans carts today. he said he has seen the input shafts snap on big block carts on the rear end.
I dont think I have heard of this in 3 years of surfing both websites. Anybody else heard of this? |

Re: anyone heard of snapping input shafts?
the only way I could see this happening is if the shaft went dry inside the clutch sheave.

Re: anyone heard of snapping input shafts?
I would think the sheaves on the clutch system would go before the input shaft. Had to be one that was already damaged or something. Also, I would think the rearend would fly apart before the input shaft broke into.

Re: anyone heard of snapping input shafts?
There was a year or two that Yamaha had the input shafts to hard and they broke off. Has nothing to do with big blocks as most broke while powered by the stock motor. The only other cause would be incorrect engine placement so the two are pulled together at full clutch upshift. If the guys with 100 HP sled motors aren't braking them no one should.
Its like NoNo EZGO saying EZGO's have crappy hubs and they strip all the time. Then talk to a guy with 100 + volt ezgo or a 60HP modded briggs with nitrous in a EZGO and they have NEVER stripped a hub or axle. I have sold hundreds of EZGO big block kits and have never sold any of them a hub or axle. (Except Roady and his cart dosent even run yet) I have also sold hundreds of Yamaha big block kits and have never sold 1 input shaft to date, 15 years. I could write a 200 page book from all the people that call and tell me that it won't work to put a counter clockwise motor in a Club Car and run it in reverse (of coarse all from people who have never done it) I explain thats funny, because we been doing it for 7 years and to this day have not even heard of ONE failure. Including the carts I personally run the crap out of. |
