Did you try some acetone to take the paint off?

A stock 67 will have a low compression head. the spark plug will be off center on the head and laying more in a horizontal position instead of the newer heads that have a centered plug standing up. if this is what you have you can start with a champion (j6c) or cross reference to a different brand plug.
keep in mind if you have removed the govenor you might have to change the heat range as you are running your motor harder. you will want to gap your plug between .040-.045

ok from what i know is someone painted the engine gold, and it has a new carb on it, other then that it has not been touched sice it came off a airport 10 years a go. this is the most info i have on it, and yes the first 3 on the id tag on the frame is 67d. so if it had a governor pulled, or still there, i dont know. the head is at a angle towards the front if memory serves me right.
right know its still under 3 feet of snow, and un reachable. got to get it ready for april. time to work again.
