I think I'll have $5-6K in the whole build after lift, wheels, tires, and maybe some seat covers.

I live near Myrtle Beach, so the local Cart market is nuts. Around here 6K gets you a used cart running 3 year old batteries with a stock 48V system, cheap lift, and a gaudy wheel/tire setup. So this is the low budget way to get the results I want.

I've been looking into 72V to 12V voltage reducers, they seem pricey and with mixed reviews. What's the general consensus on them? Or should I just run a separate 12V battery for an independent 12V system?

Might not be a bad idea to have the extra weight of the extra 12 volt battery for when you go around turns at 50 MPH!

I run a separate lithium 12v battery.

People say it's a hassle to charge two different battery systems but I set up my system to have two onboard chargers and one 120v AC relay with multiple sets of contacts. When I plug in the cart the relay sends power to both chargers and also connects the chargers to the batteries. When I unplug the cart the relay cuts power but also disconnects the chargers from the batteries. It's quite convenient.

72V Big Battery got here yesterday, fits right in the stock battery tray, should be a piece of cake to install the mounts included with the battery.

Navitas kit should ship out this week, as well as a high amp solenoid.

Looking like next week for an install.

Yep, those numbers add up quick. But its still cheaper to build my own than to buy one like my wife and I have been looking at.

Got the Navitas kit from Plum Quick, customer service for those guys is top notch. Would highly recommend using them for anyone looking into this.

Only parts I'm missing are some battery cables to get from the Big Battery junction box to the controller. Is 2-ga THNN what everyone is using? And what about ring terminal ends, just regular old automotive ends, or some HD battery cable end?

I got mine from here and they have done well. They'll make to order and send them out fast.

Well, got it all installed today, and no power to the controller. Not sure what it is, but the controller won't connect to Bluetooth and the solinoid won't click.

I'm sure it's something obvious that I'm overlooking, I'll break out the multimeter tomorrow.

Bad tow/run switch. Bypassed it until I can get a new one.

Initial thoughts after a 200 yard ride, Wow!
