Installed high speed magnet now hitting 23mph
I have a 2010 48v PDS. I used the passkey before which made my cart go from 14 to 19. Now I installed a high speed magnet and saw a top speed of 23mph. Not bad for the price of it. I did switch all my cables out to 4 gauge. I had a few 4 gauge before mixed with 6 gauge. After the magnet swap I got 22 then cable swap hit 23. For you guys without a passkey try the magnet you might get the speed you were looking for. After I add wheels prob be a 24/25 cart not bad.

I didn't know that you could use a magnet on a pds cart. Nor was I aware you needed a passkey on a pds cart.
I thought everything was done thru various "chips". I need to pay more attention here in the ezgo section. |

Magnet is on end of motor for speed sensor.
Newer carts with curtis controller (48v TXT's) use curtis controller (nice). To go to 19 mph they need to be unlocked -- (electronic key) |

The TXT48's are pretty nice carts, I think. Drive nice when unlocked. I like the new body style. However, they have difficulty selling them in my area. Everyone, including me, wants the RXV.

Both controllers limit the motor RPM and installing a magnet disk with fewer pairs of poles fools the controller and allows the motor to reach a higher RPM. Technically, the controller used in a 48V TXT cart is called a TCT (Tru-Course Technology), but most people here refer to it as a 48V PDS. |

I also keep hearing about folks "converting to a 48V PDS" when putting in a 1268 controller. Which seems unusual to me, like an extra unneeded step. But anyway to add some useful information. The 1206HB also has 2 mode inputs A and B (pins 11 and 4 respectively). I have found when both inputs are low the current personality mode will be that which is set via the handset. (mild hill, steep hill, coastal, freedom(if available)) then changing the inputs will result in the following: 11 High 4 Low : Mild Hill 11 Low 4 High : Steep Hill 11 High 4 High : Coastal As you can see, unfortunately no combination of inputs will put it into Freedom, and the unlock key is still needed. It will also need to be set as the current on the handset to be used in a turf switch situation. |

TXT is a body type, as is RXV, Medalist and Marathon, plus an assortment of other names for sub-types based on various basic body types, not counting industrial, beverage and people mover types. Series, SepEx and AC are motor types and the generic name of the drive system reflects the motor type. The controller must be compatible with the motor type. DCS, PDS, TCT, VPS, PDS-II and PDS-48V all have SepEx motors, but have different model controllers, or variants of the same model. The Curtis 1206HB, 1264 and 1268 are all 48V SepEx controllers, and might be referred to as a 48V-PDS, so it helps to know which controller is installed when trying to troubleshoot. Attached is the page explaining the various performance modes for the Curtis 1206HB (TCT) controller. BTW: Coastal means the regen braking does not kick in when you lift your foot off the pedal, it has nothing to do with geography. Thanks for the info about which pin is high or low to get the various modes, other than Freedom and Airport. As you mentioned, when both pins are low, the mode is whatever was programmed into the controller by the handheld gadget. |
