Overhead console ?
I'm installing an overhead radio console, the instructions say to just install the upper plate to the bottom half of the plastic top, I'm thinking those short screws will back out with all the shaking of the top, my game plan is to bolt thru the top with self locking nuts . As for the self tapping screws that hold the console to that plate, would pop rivits be better? I really don't want this thing falling in my lap ! Thanks guys , ya`ll are great ! { ezgo 02 }

Re: Overhead console ?
If you decide to use rivets be sure and use rivet washers. It will give the rivet a little more area to grab ahold of. Take a look at fastenal they have all kinds of cool fasteners.

Re: Overhead console ?
Personally I wouldn't use rivets, as Roady said use washers..it will help. However, that top will do alot of bouncing around and no good way to tighten or snug up a rivet. If you do go all the way through your roof with self locking nuts...caulk them good! I'd use short self tapping screws with some glue and constantly check them! My 1 cent!
