Medalist leaf spring issues
JohnnieB recommended I try and get some help from the modified forum.
Does anyone know the stock leaf spring length of an older medalist? It’s a 95 When I got it I noticed the driver leaf would lock back under load. Replaced with a HD one which is the same length and it still does it. Will be replacing the other side but I didn’t get enough bushings in the kit so I’m waiting on those. You can see the shackle angle difference between both sides but honestly the passenger seems a little too relaxed as well. Anyone had any issues like this? |

Re: Medalist leaf spring issues
Yeah it kinda appears that the spring is too long. I don't have that model, but I have a Workhorse. I can measure it. At rest the shackle is straight up at 90 degrees, and the eye of the spring is in line with the bolts in the shackle. I'll see if I can get a photo.
It's possible the frame isn't straight, I've seen it before on carts. If it was hit hard in one corner it can take the frame out of square, throwing the suspension geometry off from one side to the other. To check this, take a tape measure and find a known point on the front left and measure to the front leaf spring mount on the right rear (either mount). Do the same for the opposite side. See if they are off, they should measure the same if the frame is "square". |
