Default Painting a Club Car roof top

I've got an original 1990 Club Car roof top. It's light colored, almost an ivory or off-white (you can see it in the avatar).

As part of my remodel, I'm thinking to change it to a dark color, likely black.

Any one have great experience with painting it?

Was there any peeling / flaking?
What kind of prep did you do?

Did you do rattle can spray paint? or something more professional?

Thanks!

I used Krylon Fusion Satin Black on mine almost 2 years ago and have no flaking at all. I have had a few scratches but my fault under trees but easy to touch up. The only prep I did was a light 300 grit sand and cleaned with Acetone.

I recently painted an EZGO wiping down with liquid sandpaper then Bulldog adhesion promoter then Krylon Fusion satin black (what a joke, satin black looks like gloss black) and it’s holding up pretty well but it’s a road cart. Wish I had done flat black or matt black.

Proper prep, adhesion promoter, then SEM's Trim Black. It's made for semi flexible plastic. 5 years including branches and the occasional hot water pressure wash and I've yet to have so much as a flake off. Was 30 bucks a can, [takes 2] but worth every penny.

I use this SEM Bumper Coater to renew faded black plastics. I recently painted my body and roof but painted the grab bars(originally ivory) with this to be black. It’s designed to have some flex. I usually wash the parts with dawn soap and water let them dry then wipe the part down with rubbing alcohol the. Spray with 3 light coats.
