Good Morning, I admire your determination to get this done :)

My Dr asked me to take a look at his golf cart, I said sure before I knew it was a Star EV :)

He sent me pictures and it's a classic, he thinks 2014-2016... Serial stamped on the frame is 52RG61220JG008402. Not been able to find a decoder for this :(

It's a 6 seater, it died one day and he installed 8 new batteries... still dead....

I've found 3 wiring diagrams for curtis controllers, 1243, 1266 and 1268...

Where is the controller ? I can see something mounted under the seat on the passenger side wheel well... is that the controller or the dc-dc converter ?

Thanks for any help :)

Mike

I've worked on several, but can't speak for every model or every year. Controllers have generally been in that location - generally under a plastic cover/box. If it's got the heavy gauge cables going to it that IS the Controller. DC to DC converters use smaller (10 to 14 gauge) wires. Be aware many of those carts have been swapped over to other controllers (Alltrax / Navitas).

Ok, so we took a quick look and he has half the batteries connected backwards.... oops.... he's rotating half of them and i told him to check the fuesable link at the controller although i worry about the tow/run switch... he said it smoked a little over near that area.... will keep ya updated :)

Check the voltage and polarity of each battery. Wiring them reverse then trying to run current through them can do funny things. Hope that controller survived.
