2011 ezgo express shuttle driven clutch removal
Need help removing driven clutch from 2011 ezgo st express shuttle.
Something is messed up inside the clutch, but I can't get it out to take a look. I have removed the centerbolt. and tried to ease and nudge with a mallet, also tried a slide hammer of sorts to no avail. I am on a small island in panama, there is no warranty service available, so please help me figure out how to remove the clutch. Thanks |

Re: 2011 ezgo express shuttle driven clutch removal
Hi again.
I dont understand why this clutch wont come out. I've removed the centerbolt, and sprayed it all down with wd40 last night. It wont budge. I'd tried prying, pulling, nudging, whacking. What am i doing wrong? thanks again |

Ezgo went back to a tapered shaft in 2008 with the kaw motor fortunatly the same clutch puller bolt works on both the drive and driven clutches spend the $35 and you will save yourself alot of aggravation. Got mine off with a large 3 jaw puller the first time but now have the correct tool. Much better Good luck

Re: 2011 ezgo express shuttle driven clutch removal
Thanks for the reply.
In the few days since i have posted i have managed to fashion a puller out of some plate steel and a threaded bar. I tried it last night but the clutch still doesnt want to budge. How does the tapered shaft effect the removal process? I would love to buy the correct tool, but It would take almost a month to get anything shipped down here from the States. Thanks again |

Re: 2011 ezgo express shuttle driven clutch removal
First thing you have to do is find a bolt that threads into the hole in the driven clutch. It will be fairly large probably around 14 mm I am not at home or I would be able to give you all the dimentions. Next fill the hole with as much grease as you can and screw the bolt in this creates hydraulic pressure on the transmition input shaft.. some people try putting a steel rod in there as well to push against the shaft but I would not recommend it without the exact dimentions you risk damaging the threads or worse yet jaming it in there to the point not even the correct puller can help you out. Stickk with the grease and keep your patience. Go on line and see what this tool looks like and I think you will understand how it works. Avoid pulling on outside of the sheave I think you will damage it before it comes off. Remember the drive clutch is the same and easier to see to make sure you have the correct size bolt.good luck and let me know if you need more exact dimetions of the puller bolt

Re: 2011 ezgo express shuttle driven clutch removal
If you could give me the dimensions it would be very helpful.
there are 2 sets of threads inside the clutch, correct? and you are saying i need to find a bolt to fit the larger, outer most set of threads? they are also finethread correct? http://www.candccustomsinc.com/media.../p/cp-0035.jpg and that is the tool you are referring to? Does it actually push on something? or does it work completely by hydraulic pressure? |

I will get dimensions to you and yes the tool pushes against the input shaft best metod is put a little presure on the bolt then tap on the clutch and repeat till it pops off yes they are fine thread I think maybe 3/4 or 14 mm not sure if it is metric or sae I will get back to you later

Hey Javath.
I'm going to start working on the cart again in about an hour. Have you had a chance to get those dimensions? thanks again |
